Christmas Cactus 2010

So last fall I was given a cutting of a Christmas Cactus and by mid-October it had bloomed. You can read all about that here: 2009 Cactus.
But here's what it looked like then:

And here's what it looks like today:

2010

It just started blooming this week, making it much more a Christmas Cactus than last year. Last year it was more a Halloween Cactus. But wow! Look how much it's grown in a year. I can't believe it survived a whole year+ in my care.

That is one STRANGE plant. Strange stem shape, strange petal shape, strange blooming intervals. You sure it's not substituting arsenic for phosphorus at a cellular level ? Alien looking thing that it is . . .

Wow, Col (oh hey that rhymes!) - it's so awesome. What a pretty thing it turned out to be. See, you didn't realize you'd been growing a green thumb, did you?

It IS an odd looking thing but very pretty when it full bloom. It has passed full bloom now though and is in the droopy wilting stage. And hey, yeah, a little bigger and could take cuttings from it. But I am sure I would kill it doing that.
